“For an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshippers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” -John 4:23-24
Water’s Edge Community Church exists to magnify the glory of God, in Jesus Christ, by His Spirit, to all in the heart of Lake Country and beyond—for His glory and our joy in Him!
Our vision for making great of God begins with fully surrendered lives to Jesus Christ as the head of the Church (Colossians 1:18). With Christ as our Leader we seek to be like-minded with Him through the Holy Spirit’s guidance (Philippians 2:5, John 14:16-17). Submitting to His teachings has led us to discover and organize our vision around six basic functions, or ministries, of the New Testament Church.
- Worship – [Greek “Megaluno” to make great {Philippians 1:20}] A moment-by-moment expression of gratitude, honor and glory to our Creator and Savior. Worship essentially defines the passion of Water’s Edge. When Jesus is treasured above all things life itself becomes a continual act of worship (Colossians 1:23, John 4:23-24).
- Fellowship – [Greek “Koinonia” sharing in communion, communion {Acts 2:42}] The joining together of hearts and lives for the unified purpose of encouraging one another in Christ and working together to see the advancement of the Kingdom of God (Hebrews 10:23-25).
- Discipleship – [Greek “Mimetes” an imitator {Ephesians 5:1}] The teaching and learning of God’s truths revealed in Scripture for the purpose of knowing and loving God more (2 Timothy 3:14-17, Hebrews 6:1).
- Service – [Greek “Doulos” a servant or slave {Romans 1:1}] Recognizing and taking action to meet the needs of the Water’s Edge family and those in Lake Country and beyond, both spiritually and physically (1John 3:17-18).
- Missions – [Greek “Euangelizo” to proclaim the good news {Acts 5:42}] Proclaiming the glory of God to all people groups of Lake Country and beyond (the world). Salvation in Jesus Christ (so that one may come to worship, glorify, and treasure Him above all else) is the greatest need of mankind (2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Matthew 28:18-20).
- Administration – [Greek “Katartismos” preparing fully {Ephesians 4:12}, “Sunoikodomeo” to build together {Ephesians 2:22}] Facilitating, coordinating, and encouraging working relationships and providing resources to ministry teams for the building up of the church and the expansion of God’s Kingdom (Ephesians 4:12, 2:22, 1 Corinthians 12:28).
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” Matthew 28:19.
