John “Bo” Bohannon surrendered to the Lord’s call to come to Lake Country in the winter of 1999. The turn of events that eventually brought him to Lake Country all began in the spring of 1995. It was during this season, while living in Richmond, Virginia that God radically exposed the darkness of Bo’s life while at the same time revealing His incredible mercy, glory and holiness. He realized then that his purpose and joy in life could only be experienced through an obedient surrender to God and the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Leaving a ten year pharmaceutical career behind, having submitted to God’s call to preach, he embarked upon an ongoing journey of diligent study of the Word of God (2 Tim. 2:15). Bo’s passion and joy now lies in the humbling yet blessed task of exulting the greatness of God in Jesus Christ through the faithful and joyful expositional proclamation of God’s Word (Neh. 8:8; Acts 20:27). He is grateful for the opportunity God has created to serve the body of Christ here at Water’s Edge Community Church. His desire is to see everyone become all that God has called them to be in Christ Jesus—for His glory and their exploding joy in Him (Eph. 4:11-13).
Bo shares God’s vision for ministry in Lake Country with his wife Jody. Jody surrendered to Jesus Christ as Lord in 1995. It was after God united them in Christ that He united them in marriage and ministry. Prior to God blessing them with three children; Summer, Levi & Joelle, Jody enjoyed teaching art as an elementary art teacher in Richmond. She continues to enjoy painting and photography while taking pleasure in raising the children along with leading women’s bible studies.
